About the position

The Special Education Elementary Float Teacher position is a full-time, temporary role for the 2024-2025 school year within the Rochester Public Schools district. This position is designed to provide support to students with special needs across various elementary classrooms, adapting to the unique requirements of each classroom environment. The teacher will work closely with the Building Principal and the Special Education Director to ensure that all students receive the appropriate educational support and resources necessary for their success. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment that respects and values diversity among students and staff. As a Special Education Float Teacher, the individual will be responsible for implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborating with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will also engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and urban, multicultural education. This position emphasizes the importance of understanding students' academic and affective learning styles, ensuring that all students are supported in their educational journey. Requirements

  • Current Minnesota teaching license required.

  • Working knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices.

Nice-to-haves
