About the position

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as a Special Education Financial Data and Monitoring Analyst. This role is crucial in supporting the organization's mission, particularly as outlined in the Department's strategic plan aimed at addressing the needs of students with disabilities and enhancing other student services. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Division of Special Populations team, providing high-level expertise in special education finance and assisting in the implementation of the Special Education State Improvement Plan. In this position, the analyst will engage in various support activities that are essential for the effective management and oversight of special education funds. The role requires a broad knowledge of accounting principles, special education finance, and federal grant administration or monitoring. The analyst will also need to be familiar with state or office procedures for administering special education funds and possess a basic understanding of the regulations governing the education of children with disabilities. Additionally, the candidate should have a working knowledge of local school division administration and be proficient in word-processing and spreadsheet software. The analyst will be expected to define problems and apply problem-solving techniques to complex educational issues, participate on interdisciplinary teams, and manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines. Effective communication skills are essential, as the analyst will need to present complex information to both technical and lay audiences. The ability to coordinate, critique, and edit work products is also a key responsibility. Familiarity with EDGAR, OMB Circulars/Uniform Guidance Document, OMEGA, and general auditing practices or methodologies will be beneficial in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements
