About the position

The Special Education Middle School Teacher at Stride, Inc. is responsible for delivering course content in an online environment tailored to students with special needs. This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process according to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher collaborates with students, parents, and related service staff to ensure compliance and effective learning experiences, all while working remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment for students with special needs.
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students as defined by their IEPs.
  • Manage the learning process and focus on individual student needs.
  • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies are provided.
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
  • Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Make modifications to lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
  • Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
  • Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Maintain a grade book ensuring academic integrity and alert administrators to concerns about student performance.
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and parents.
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual environment.
  • Travel up to 20% for professional development and student testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Active state teaching license in Special Education.
  • Ability to clear required background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data.

  • Experience in online teaching environments.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and supplemental curriculum for special education.
  • Strong communication skills with parents and students.
