About the position
The Special Education Paraprofessional will support students with special learning needs under the supervision of the Education Specialist. This role involves providing individual and small group instruction, assisting with educational materials, and maintaining accurate records. The position is essential in helping students achieve their IEP goals and requires collaboration with educators and parents.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group instruction for students with special learning needs.
- Support the administration of the school's special education programs across all Learning Centers.
- Assist IEP students in various academic subjects, following lesson plans and designated IEPs.
- Deliver accommodations for formal and informal assessments.
- Assist students with assistive technology and communication devices.
- Perform clerical work such as typing, sorting, and maintaining accurate records.
- Prepare teaching aids and materials using various methods.
- Adapt educational materials to promote specialized learning for students with disabilities.
- Observe and report significant student behavior to the teacher/specialist.
- Communicate with parents regarding appointments and student information.
- Participate in IEP meetings as directed by the teacher/specialist.
- Assist with student discipline in accordance with school policy.
- Collaborate as a team member in the educational environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience in the field of special education preferred.
- Valid California Driver's License required.
- Above average knowledge of Google programs and computer technology.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Charter, Independent Study, and/or Virtual Environment special education.
