About the position
The Special Education Paraprofessional will support students with special needs in a high school setting, working closely with the lead teacher to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and promote a positive learning environment. This role involves providing one-on-one assistance, facilitating communication among students, and adapting lesson plans to meet diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Facilitate communication and interaction between students, promoting social skills and collaboration.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to the needs of students.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to adapt lesson plans and materials for diverse learners.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior.
Requirements
- Valid special education paraprofessional license (preferred).
- Experience in special education.
