About the position

The Special Education Preschool Teacher position at Crestview Elementary School is designed for the 2024-2025 school year. The Special Education Preschool Teacher will be responsible for compiling and maintaining children's permanent special education files, which are essential for tracking progress and ensuring compliance with educational standards. The teacher will actively participate in classroom activities, adapting them as necessary to meet the diverse needs of students. Collaboration is a key component of this position, as the teacher will participate in weekly team meetings with classroom teachers to discuss individual children's progress and strategies. Responsibilities

  • Compile and maintain children's permanent special education file.
  • Provide training and modeling for data collection for classroom teacher.
  • Responsible for recording data, compiling data recorded by others, and tracking progress of children's IEP's.
  • Provide training and modeling for the classroom staff within the classroom setting.
  • Participate fully in classroom activities in conjunction with the classroom staff to provide opportunities for children.
  • Provide training to classroom staff in confidentiality and document training attendance.
  • Follow and complete transition process for each child in accordance with the department transition guidelines.
  • Be an active participant in weekly team meetings with individual classroom teachers.
  • Attend monthly inservice with an attitude of learning.
  • Attend and be prepared for meetings.
  • Attend parent orientation meetings for Preschool/Head Start classes when possible.
  • Participate in 'assessment teams' as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preschool Special Education Certification required.
  • Two years of experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
