About the position
The Special Education Resource Paraprofessional at Avery Elementary School supports special education students under the guidance of a teacher. This role involves assisting students in acquiring skills, supervising them in various settings, and providing necessary physical assistance. The position is available for both part-time and full-time schedules, with a focus on flexibility to accommodate different needs.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and work with special education students one-on-one and in small groups.
- Assist the teacher in the classroom with instructional duties.
- Provide physical assistance to students as needed, including lifting and toileting support.
- Assist students during lunch and recreational activities.
- Support transportation needs for students within the school.
Requirements
- Experience in a special education classroom setting.
- Ability to attend to the duties of the position regularly and for the duration of the assignment.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of oneself or others.
