About the position

The Special Education Secondary Learning Support Teacher at Hatboro-Horsham School District plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This position is focused on the secondary level, specifically within middle school settings, and requires a commitment to the district's philosophy of education, which emphasizes equity, diversity, and inclusion. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction that not only meets the academic needs of students but also supports their social and emotional development. In this role, the teacher will employ differentiated instructional techniques to ensure that all students are engaged and challenged. This includes analyzing and utilizing data to inform instructional decisions, designing and implementing tailored lesson plans, and creating active learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of each child. A strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is preferred, as the teacher may be involved in writing and implementing these plans to support students' educational goals. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate with an endorsement in Special Education, and additional certification in a secondary content area. The teacher will work closely with the Building Principal and other staff to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. Regular attendance and adherence to the policies set forth by the School Board are essential functions of this role, as is the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience in writing IEPs is preferred.
