About the position

The Merrimack High School Special Education team is seeking a dynamic special education teacher with academic strengths and teaching experience at the high school level. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of high school core content and demonstrate a commitment to supporting all learners in accessing a challenging curriculum. This role requires collaboration with a wide range of general education teachers and special education team members, emphasizing problem-solving and open communication. The educator we welcome to our team should be dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. In this position, the special education teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Additionally, the role involves monitoring student progress, adapting instructional strategies, and providing necessary accommodations to facilitate learning. The successful candidate will also engage in ongoing professional development to enhance their skills and stay current with best practices in special education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and special education team members to support student learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications to ensure access to the curriculum for all learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • New Hampshire Certification in Special Education.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of high school core content.
