The position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes at designated locations and times. The instructor is responsible for preparing for classes and providing written evidence of preparation upon request. Participation in the evaluative process for Special Education placement and involvement in Eligibility, Placement, and IEP team meetings is required. The instructor must maintain a 'work' folder for each student to document their progress and provide an appropriate educational program. Collaboration with regular classroom teachers and staff is essential for planning instructional goals and methods. A variety of instructional techniques and media should be employed, considering the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students. The instructor is also responsible for protecting students and materials, attending faculty meetings, assisting in the selection of instructional materials, completing reports, and maintaining communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress. Professional growth through reading, workshops, and advanced coursework is encouraged. The instructor must create a conducive classroom environment, guide learning towards IEP goals, implement policies governing student conduct, and maintain order in the classroom.
