Responsibilities

• Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.
• Develop and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students.
• Adhere to procedural requirements, including due process timelines and special education logs.
• Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
• Conduct special education evaluations and re-evaluations.
• Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and monitor student behavior.
• Provide instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff.
• Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers regarding the needs of students.
• Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding adaptations and modifications for students with disabilities.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and the community in a professional manner.
• Participate in regular professional development.
• Model the Athlos culture.
• Meet professional obligations by honoring schedules and deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or enrollment in a teaching program.
• Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
• Valid Louisiana teaching certificate preferred; if not, enrollment in alternate certification required.
