About the position

The Special Education Teacher Aide position is designed to support students with special needs across various schools within the district. The position is available at multiple locations, including Amherst Middle School, Smallwood Drive Elementary School, and Windermere Boulevard Elementary School, with a total of six positions open. Each position has specific hours and is structured for a 10-month school year, aligning with the academic calendar. The starting date for these positions is set for September 3, 2024. As a Special Education Teacher Aide, you will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of educational programs tailored to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. This includes providing one-on-one support, helping with classroom management, and facilitating communication between students and teachers. The role requires a compassionate and patient individual who can adapt to the varying needs of students and contribute positively to their learning experiences. Experience working with special education students is preferred, as it enhances the ability to understand and address the unique challenges these students may face. Candidates must meet specific qualifications, including a high school diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Additionally, all new employees must undergo a fingerprinting process through the New York State Department of Education to ensure the safety and security of students. Responsibilities
