About the position

The Special Education Teacher - Autism Preschool role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing educational services for students in specialized year-round schools. This position is crucial within multidisciplinary education and treatment teams, focusing on the implementation of positive behavior support plans tailored to each student in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement educational services for preschool students with autism.
  • Oversee the educational programs in year-round special purpose schools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support each student's positive behavior support plan.
  • Develop and maintain Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide education and care to children aged 3-5 years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Maine Department of Education Certification 282 - Teacher of Children with Disabilities/Pre-K required.
  • One year of teaching experience with children with developmental disabilities required.
  • DOE fingerprinting required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
