About the position

The Eden Prairie Public School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to work with students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ABS) at Prairie View Elementary. This full-time position (1.0 FTE) requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education practices and be able to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) effectively. The teacher will collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to ensure that each student receives the necessary support to thrive academically and socially. In this role, the Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of students with EBD and ABS. The teacher will utilize various instructional strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and academic success. Additionally, the teacher will monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's development and achievements. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching license in Special Education, with EBD/ABS licensure preferred.
  • Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Experience in a K-12 educational setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and behavioral interventions.
