About the position
The Special Education Teacher - Elementary (Long Term Substitute) position at Mill Creek Elementary School is designed for a qualified educator to provide instruction and support to students with special needs from January 2, 2025, to June 13, 2025. The role requires a strong understanding of special education pedagogy and the ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) effectively. The successful candidate will also be trained in crisis prevention techniques to ensure a safe learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver instruction to students in special needs classes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy relevant to special education.
- Utilize crisis prevention techniques and strategies as needed, including restraint as a last resort.
- Implement and monitor students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
- PA Special Education PK-8 certification (content area certificate required for issuance).
- Elementary certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania's Academic Standards.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Familiarity with crisis prevention techniques.
