About the position

The Monroe County Intermediate School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher for the Elementary MoCI (Moderate Cognitive Impairment) program. This position is designed for educators who are committed to providing high-quality instruction and support to students with moderate cognitive impairments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education practices, individualized education plans (IEPs), and the ability to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and growth for all students. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes collaborating with other educators, specialists, and families to ensure that students receive the appropriate resources and support. You will also be expected to assess student progress, adapt teaching methods, and utilize various instructional strategies to engage students effectively. The role requires a commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay current with best practices in special education. You will play a crucial role in advocating for students and ensuring that they have access to the same educational opportunities as their peers. The position is based at the Educational Center and is set to begin on August 14, 2024, with applications being accepted until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education with a focus on Moderate Cognitive Impairment (MoCI).
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those with cognitive impairments.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
