About the position

The Special Education Teacher (ESE) at National Academic Educational Partners, Inc. (NAEP) is responsible for educating students with exceptional needs through support facilitation. This role involves collaborating with the administrative team to coordinate service delivery based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and implementing policies in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The teacher will also engage in professional development and provide daily support to Exceptional Student Education, contributing to a mission-driven and diverse educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans for specific classes utilizing standards, curriculum, and course(s) of study.
  • Instruct scholars in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Provide individualized, small group, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each scholar.
  • Evaluate scholars' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service, workshops, and other professional development activities as required by the school leadership team.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss scholars' progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify scholar needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping scholars solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Participate in the IEP process as appropriate and as required by law.
  • Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate administrator on the evaluation process in conformance with district evaluation guidelines.
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
  • Administer appropriate tests and/or assessments.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and the sponsorship of scholar activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Possesses strong time management & organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, the community, and administrative staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and displays such between all stakeholders: being courteous, professional, and helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills: Oral (including presentations), Written, Interpersonal (active listening), Negotiating and Influencing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in Osceola County.
  • Experience with writing Individual Educational Plans.
