About the position

As a Special Education Teacher at Pressley Ridge, you will play a crucial role in empowering children and families within the community to transform their lives and reach their full potential. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated classroom team to develop, implement, and monitor effective individualized academic and behavioral programming tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all students receive the support they need to achieve high rates of academic progress and successfully complete their programs. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, and reporting on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student. You will also work closely with the classroom team to create and maintain a classroom and behavioral management system that fosters a positive learning environment. Additionally, you will be tasked with ensuring effective behavioral health planning to enhance each student's social and emotional learning skills, while continuously prioritizing the safety and well-being of all students. Professional development is a key aspect of this position, and you will be expected to engage in ongoing training and skill enhancement to stay current with best practices in special education. The working conditions will primarily be within a school and community environment, requiring a moderate to high level of physical activity to meet the demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assure effective academic and behavioral programming for each student resulting in high rates of academic progress and successful program completion.
  • Develop, implement, review, and report on Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student.
  • Develop and implement a classroom/behavioral management system in collaboration with the classroom team.
  • Assure effective behavioral health planning to increase each student's social and emotional learning skills.
  • Assure the continuous safety of all students.
  • Assure the continuing development of professional skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Teaching Certification.
