About the position

The Special Education Teacher for K-12 with Extensive Support Needs (ESN) at Barstow Unified is a vital role aimed at providing specialized educational instruction to students with significant disabilities. This position requires a dedicated educator who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students who need additional support in their learning journey. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes adapting curriculum materials, utilizing various teaching strategies, and employing assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes. In this role, the teacher will collaborate closely with parents, support staff, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. The teacher will also be expected to monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the students' education. Additionally, the teacher will participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance their instructional skills. The position is designed for the 2024-2025 school year and is located in Barstow, California. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Education Specialist California Teaching Credential with EL Authorization, specifically indicating M/S or Extensive Support Needs (ESN) Authorization. Interns and those eligible for a PIP or STSP Permit may also be considered for this position. Candidates must submit an EDJOIN application that includes a copy of their transcripts, appropriate credential, and copies of all relevant test results, such as CBEST and CSETs, along with a minimum of three signed letters of recommendation dated within the last two years.

  • Education Specialist Credential must indicate M/S or Extensive Support Needs (ESN) Authorization.
