About the position

The Special Education Teacher (K-6) position at Finger Lakes Elementary School (FLES) in Gorham, NY, is a full-time role focused on providing specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities. The teacher will work directly with a diverse population of students, including those with autism and various emotional and developmental disabilities. The position also involves recording and reporting on student progress, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. The successful candidate will be required to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, which is essential for managing physical interventions safely and effectively. Initial and refresher TCI trainings are provided by W-FL BOCES, ensuring that teachers are well-prepared to handle the physical demands of the job. The salary range for this position is between $50,027 and $58,370, depending on experience and demonstrated abilities. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • NYS Teacher Certification in Students with Disabilities B-2, 1-6 or Special Education K-12.

  • Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
  • Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.
