About the position

The Long-term Substitute Teacher position at Broad Rock Middle School is a full-time role that will commence on August 26, 2024, and is expected to last until approximately January 27, 2025. This position is specifically for a RIDE Certified Middle Grades 6-8 Special Education teacher, with a preference for candidates who hold RIDE Certification in Severe and Profound Disabilities or have relevant experience in this area. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that each student receives the support necessary to thrive academically and socially within the school environment. Broad Rock Middle School is situated in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and serves a student population of approximately 435. The school is part of a supportive educational community that includes a principal, an assistant principal, and a dedicated team of professional staff, including 40 classroom teachers and 7 special education teachers. The school also has a robust support system in place, including school counselors, a media specialist, a school nurse, a psychologist, and a social worker, along with 9 para-professional aides who assist in the educational process. The Long-term Substitute Teacher will collaborate with these professionals to create an inclusive and effective learning environment for all students. Candidates must possess at least one year of relevant experience, and a bachelor's degree is preferred. Additionally, applicants must be able to provide proof of citizenship, residency, or a valid work visa. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • RIDE Certified in Middle Grades 6-8 Special Education.
  • Experience or certification in Severe and Profound Disabilities preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • National BCI required.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
