About the position
The SpEd Resource Teacher for Middle School is responsible for instructing and assisting students with learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. This role involves providing approved and aligned instruction and/or support services as prescribed in the students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in both resource and general education settings. The teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers, service providers, caretakers, and community partners to design and implement educational programs that meet the needs of these students.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and assist students with disabilities in accordance with their IEPs.
- Provide support services in both resource and general education settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, service providers, and caretakers to design educational programs.
- Monitor student progress and make instructional modifications as needed.
- Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Elementary Education or a related field.
- Valid Louisiana teaching certificate with a Mild-Moderate Endorsement.
- Enrollment in a special education add-on program before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
- Knowledge of curriculum and core academic subjects assigned.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior positively.
- Competency in digital-age work and student learning.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree in a related discipline/field.
- Evidence of prior successful teaching experience.
