About the position

Health Advocates Network is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to work at a facility in Imperial Beach, CA. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
• Provide direct instruction to students in various subjects, adapting teaching methods and materials to suit individual needs.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including visual aids, assistive technology, and multisensory approaches, to enhance student learning.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with other teachers, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.
• Monitor and track student behavior and provide behavior management interventions as needed.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, acceptance, and collaboration among students.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and legal requirements in special education.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid California Teaching Credential in Special Education.
• Demonstrated experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies and materials to suit individual student needs.
• Proficiency in using assistive technology and other tools to support student learning.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
