About the position
The Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) at Da Vinci Schools is responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students with mild to moderate disabilities. This role involves creating a flexible program and learning environment that allows students to benefit from the general education curriculum through specialized instruction, accommodations, and modifications. The teacher will collaborate closely with grade level teams to design interdisciplinary projects that promote essential skills and knowledge, aligning with the school's project-based, college preparatory curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students with mild to moderate disabilities.
- Create a flexible program and learning environment that supports specialized instruction.
- Ensure students benefit from the general education curriculum with supplemental aids and accommodations.
- Collaborate with grade level teams to plan interdisciplinary projects.
- Teach both 21st century skills and subject area content through project-based learning.
Requirements
- Educational Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate), including English Learner and Autism Authorization.
Nice-to-haves
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.
