About the position
The Special Education Teacher for Mild/Moderate Disabilities at Atascadero High School/ACE Academy is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities. The role involves developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, and ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations. The position requires a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential and offers a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with mild to moderate disabilities.
- Facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with parents and other educators.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate and consult with general education teachers to support inclusive education.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and assessments.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
Requirements
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential for Mild/Moderate Disabilities (or in progress).
- Bridge Authorization: Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN).
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Added Authorization.
- Appropriate ELL Authorization (CLAD or equivalent).
- Ability to develop and facilitate IEP meetings.
- Tuberculosis Clearance.
- Ability to pass DOJ Background/Fingerprint Check.
- CPR Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in Special Education programs.
- Ability to differentiate for a variety of instructional levels.
- Thorough understanding of Response to Intervention (RtI).
- Knowledge and/or understanding of conflict management.
- Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Certification.
- Master's Degree.
