About the position

The Primary Teacher position at Vero Beach Elementary is designed for educators who are passionate about teaching students in grades 1, 2, and 3. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the prescribed curriculum, particularly in emergent and early literacy, as well as a solid grasp of child growth and development. Teachers must be knowledgeable about the characteristics of students within the assigned age group and be adept at utilizing current technology to enhance learning experiences. A strong understanding of current trends, research, and best practices in education is essential, as is the ability to handle problems and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact. Teachers will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that maximize student engagement and learning outcomes. This includes assessing student achievement levels, analyzing test results, and prescribing actions for improvement. Maintaining a safe and orderly environment for learning is a priority, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and administrators. Familiarity with Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Teacher Competencies is also required for this role.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching in the grade level/subject area is preferred.
  • Must meet the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) regulations and requirements.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
