About the position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role involves developing or modifying curricula and preparing lessons and other instructional materials tailored to student ability levels. The educator will work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide learning activities and experiences for special education students.
- Develop or modify curricula and prepare instructional materials.
- Work in various capacities such as self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subjects/level assigned.
- Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
- Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.
