About the position

The Special Education Teacher (TIP Program) position is a short-term substitute role at Teaticket Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year, lasting approximately 16-20 weeks. The teacher will work with special needs students, collaborating with other staff to develop and implement educational programs tailored to individual needs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Work with other special needs staff, specialists, and administrative personnel in developing educational programs for special education students.
• Complete evaluation and progress reports, educational plan information, and other data required by local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Be responsible for ongoing diagnostic/prescriptive programming for children with disabilities.
• Assist general education teachers in the implementation of modifications for inclusionary practices.
• Guide and direct teaching assistants to facilitate programming for students.
• Support inclusionary practices to ensure student participation is in the least restrictive environment.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Special Education Building Administrator.

Requirements

• Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Disabilities required; Severe preferred.
• SEI Teacher Endorsement preferred.
• Master's degree with an emphasis in Special Education preferred.
• Demonstrated experience as a special education teacher of a substantially separate program.
• Experience with specialized teaching techniques for special education students.
• Ability to design or modify curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments for students with disabilities.
• Ability to implement behavioral management strategies.

Nice-to-haves

• Safety Care certification preferred.
