About the position

The Special Education Teacher for the Virtual Learning Academy is responsible for providing instruction and support to students with special needs enrolled in the program. This role involves designing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies, and collaborating with the Student Success Team to ensure that all students achieve their educational goals in a supportive virtual environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, facilitate, implement, and monitor progress of IEP goals
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and methods, including differentiation, to meet diverse student needs
• Structure the student environment to provide a supportive virtual educational setting that maximizes student potential
• Ongoing collaboration with the Student Success Team and other teachers working with the students
• Support students to achieve high expectations
• Accurately complete all paperwork related to provided services in a timely manner as mandated by NYS and school policies and procedures

Requirements

• Must have NYS Certification as a Special Education Teacher: SWD 7-12 Generalist or SWD K-12
• Prefer candidate to also hold NYS Certification SWD 7-12 in Math, English, Science or Social Studies
• Strong collaboration skills

• Strong use of instructional technology to meet student needs

Benefits

• Salary of $52,982 Minimum + DOE per BTA Contract
