K12, a Stride Company, is dedicated to providing families with an online option for a high-quality, personalized education experience. The Special Education Teacher at Iowa Virtual Academy (IAVA) plays a crucial role in delivering specific course content in an online environment, focusing on the individual needs of students as defined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This position requires a state-certified teacher who is responsible for providing instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs, ensuring compliance with all necessary documentation and services as determined by the IEP team. The Special Education Teacher will actively engage with students and parents to advance each student's learning, ensuring that all special education and related services are provided. This includes developing compliant IEPs, progress reports, and facilitating collaborative special education meetings. The teacher will utilize provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, ensuring their inclusion and success in the general education classroom. The role also involves collecting data to monitor student progress towards IEP goals, documenting all interactions with parents and interventions, and analyzing student data to prescribe necessary remediation and enrichment. This full-time position requires the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office environment. The teacher will provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, demonstrating a commitment to personalizing learning for all students and maintaining high expectations for student success. Communication with families is essential, as is supporting learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom setting. Additionally, the role may require up to 20% travel for professional development and student testing.
