About the position

The Special Education Teacher at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is responsible for developing and implementing instructional programs for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, behavior disorders, and Autism. This role emphasizes a supportive teaching environment with low student-teacher ratios, allowing teachers to make a significant impact on student outcomes. The position is located in Upper Darby School District and includes the option for Extended School Year (ESY) programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all students
• Deliver education lessons in a small classroom setting
• Implement IEPs and track education goals
• Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in special education or other degree in education or human services
• Pennsylvania Instructional I Certification or eligibility for emergency certification through PDE
• Willingness to participate in ABA training and specifically Verbal Behavior training
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders (preferred)
• Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines
