About the position

ATX Learning is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers/Resource Specialists for our educational sites in Davis, California. This full-time position involves working with students across various age groups, focusing on developing and implementing educational plans tailored to meet individual student needs. The ideal candidate will possess a current teaching license and demonstrate a commitment to fostering independent learning skills among students. The role requires the development of lesson plans that not only adhere to the prescribed curriculum but also adapt to make learning meaningful and engaging for students. Additionally, the Special Education Teacher will participate in the creation and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner. The position is structured as a full-time Resource Specialist role, requiring the teacher to work five days a week with a caseload primarily consisting of students with mild to moderate disabilities. The start date for this position is immediate, and it is expected to continue until the end of the school year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and program needs. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that enhance student learning and promote independent learning skills.
  • Create and execute Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to individual student needs.
  • Follow the prescribed curriculum while adapting lessons to make them meaningful for students.
  • Complete all assigned documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with parents, students, and other educators to support student success.

Requirements

  • Current teaching certificate in Special Education.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree is preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience in a public or charter school setting is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with autism and life skills needs.
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies for special education.
