About the position

Aveanna Education Services is seeking dedicated Long Term Certified Special Education Teachers to join our team in York, PA. This role is crucial in providing educational support to students with autism, developmental disabilities, and communication disorders in a public school setting. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for creating and maintaining a superior academic environment tailored to the unique needs of each student, as well as the classroom as a whole. This involves developing and implementing lesson plans that are engaging and effective, ensuring that instruction is modified to meet the individual needs of students. In this position, you will be expected to write and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), initiate student evaluations, and document progress meticulously. You will also create an instructional environment that fosters appropriate development for students, which includes providing behavioral management and monitoring student progress. Collaboration with related-services staff is essential to address the diverse needs of students effectively. Participation in meetings and ongoing professional development will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that you remain informed about best practices in special education. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, where every student can thrive academically and socially. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of students with special needs, making a significant impact on their lives and futures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 months of related teaching experience (i.e. student teaching, internships, etc.)
  • Valid state special education certificate
  • Preferred experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
