About the position

Aspire of WNY is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at the Center for Learning in Cheektowaga, NY. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of children with developmental disabilities, ranging from Pre-K to 21 years old. This position is full-time and involves providing educational services to students with multiple disabilities in an inclusive setting. You will be responsible for developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), coordinating services for students, and teaching in a way that ensures successful progress towards their goals. Collaboration with staff, parents, and other service providers is essential to create a supportive learning environment. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every student can thrive. Your responsibilities will include assessing student needs, implementing educational strategies tailored to individual learning styles, and monitoring progress to adjust teaching methods as necessary. You will also engage in ongoing communication with families to keep them informed about their child's development and to involve them in the educational process. This position not only requires a strong educational background but also a commitment to the values of empathy, patience, and understanding that are vital in special education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Coordinate services and support for students to ensure their educational needs are met.
  • Teach students in an inclusive setting, adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress towards their educational goals.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and other service providers to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with families regarding their child's development and educational progress.

Requirements

  • New York State Teaching Certification in Students with Disabilities Birth - Grade 2 or Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
