About the position

The Special Education Teacher at Amergis will provide quality educational services to special education students from kindergarten through grade 12. This role involves collaboration with the Special Education Program Administrator and general education staff to plan and implement individualized student programs, including special instruction and tutorial assistance. The position is scheduled for the 2024/2025 school year, starting in January 2025, and requires a commitment to team participation and student success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality educational services to special education students from kindergarten through grade 12.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Program Administrator in planning and implementing student programs.
  • Deliver special instruction and tutorial assistance to students.
  • Consult with general education staff to support student needs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment (preferred).
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching (preferred).
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching (preferred).
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching (preferred).
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred).
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable).
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable).
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
