About the position

The Special Education Teacher provides individualized support and instruction to PK-8 school students with disabilities, following their IEPs. This role involves implementing curriculum, managing IEP processes, and collaborating with staff to ensure inclusive practices and student success.

Responsibilities

  • Implement differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Coordinate multi-grade schedules and co-teaching models.
  • Oversee and implement IEPs, including behavior plans and assessments.
  • Support inclusive practices for ELL, general education students, and MTSS/TEACCH models.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Conduct formal/informal assessments to evaluate academic and functional progress.
  • Address social-emotional needs and implement self-regulation strategies.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, service providers, and general educators.
  • Manage shifting caseloads, including administrative placement.
  • Maintain professional communication with parents and guardians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with special education endorsement (or pending).
  • Knowledge of specialized curricula, behavior management, and teaching diverse learners.

  • Experience with FBA/BIP development and CPI strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with students of varying abilities.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local education regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
