About the position

The Special Education Teacher at Allendale Association plays a crucial role in providing individualized and group instruction to students with special needs within a therapeutic day school setting. This position focuses on enhancing students' academic skills, self-confidence, and independence through a tailored educational approach. The teacher will work in a supportive environment with small class sizes and receive ongoing training and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group special education instruction within a self-contained classroom.
  • Deliver therapeutic services to students in a therapeutic day school setting.
  • Collaborate with teacher assistants to support student learning.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development, including REStArT and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.
  • Work collaboratively with students and their families to support educational and life goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
  • LBS1 License/Endorsement or Short Term Emergency License pursuing LBS1 required.
  • Knowledge of Special Education laws, rules, and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with children with emotional, mental, and behavioral health challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
