About the position

ATX Learning is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers/Resource Specialists for our locations in Concord, California. This full-time position involves working with students across various age groups, focusing on developing and implementing educational plans tailored to individual student needs. The ideal candidate will possess a current license to practice and be comfortable working with students with mild to moderate disabilities. The role requires a commitment to fostering independent learning skills and enhancing student learning outcomes through well-structured lesson plans. As a Special Education Teacher/Resource Specialist, you will be responsible for creating lesson plans that align with the prescribed curriculum while also adapting materials to ensure they are meaningful and accessible to all students. You will participate in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with special needs while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The assignment is full-time, requiring attendance five days a week, with a caseload focused on mild to moderate disabilities. The start date is as soon as possible, and the position is renewable until the end of the school year. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that enhance student learning and promote independent learning skills.
  • Create and adapt educational plans to meet individual student needs.
  • Participate in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Complete assigned documentation in a timely manner.
  • Follow the prescribed curriculum while supplementing and adapting lessons to make them meaningful for students.

Requirements

  • Current Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience in a public school or charter school setting preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with autism and life skills needs.
  • Familiarity with special education laws and regulations.
