About the position

The Special Education Teacher at Great Hearts Academies plays a crucial role in providing educational services to students with disabilities. This position involves planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating individualized educational services and learning programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. The teacher will work in various instructional settings, including resource rooms, inclusion classrooms, and LID (Learning in Depth) environments. The goal is to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially within the school community. They participate in faculty-wide events and professional development while bringing specialized expertise to support the success of all students. The Special Education team collaborates closely with other school personnel to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide essential support in the least restrictive environment possible. This collaborative approach ensures that students with disabilities are included in the broader educational experience and receive the necessary resources to succeed. The position is full-time, and the teacher will be expected to work Monday through Friday. The salary range for this role is between $50,000 and $64,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities

  • Provides educational services to students with disabilities.
  • Plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates individualized educational services and learning programs.
  • Works in resource, inclusion, LID, and other instructional settings.
  • Collaborates with other school personnel to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Participates in faculty-wide events and professional development.
  • Ensures that students are served in the least restrictive environment possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas Generalist/Core content Teaching Certification with required endorsements or training for relevant subject and level (preferred).
  • Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification.
  • 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience in a K-12 school (preferred).
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education.
  • Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of educational technology applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching Certification in a Generalist or Core Subject area (Preferred).
