The Special Equipment Operator I-II position at Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation involves driving and operating right-of-way (ROW) vehicles and equipment to safely and efficiently complete various tasks and projects. The role includes performing daily inspections and maintenance of equipment, conducting right-of-way clearing duties, and ensuring safety protocols are followed while working in potentially hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates ROW vehicles and equipment to complete tasks and projects safely and efficiently.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of chainsaws and safety equipment.
• Operates chainsaws safely and efficiently, notifying supervisors of any safety hazards.
• Conducts right-of-way clearing duties including bucket work, climbing work, ground clearing, cutting, chipping, piling, and burning.
• Safely operates special equipment to control vegetation along the right of way.
• Inspects ROW in front of equipment to flag obstacles such as phone pedestals and gas lines.
• Performs traffic control duties around the work area as needed.
• Understands general safety rules and policies, promoting good relations with crew members and the public.

Requirements

• At least 3 months of experience and/or training in a related field.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to work in potentially hazardous conditions and extreme temperatures.
• Ability to perform highly repetitive and physical functions.
• Must be able to travel to various locations and stay overnight as required.
• Must be able to work extra hours when necessary.

Nice-to-haves

• Commercial Applicator Technician certification.
• Class A or B CDL License.
• Temporary Traffic Control Certification.
