Special Needs Caregiver

About the position

The Special Needs Caregiver position involves providing compassionate and reliable care for two children with autism in Port Charlotte, FL. The role requires assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and engaging with the children using appropriate communication strategies. The family is looking for a team of caregivers who can offer flexible schedules and consistent quality care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities, including feeding, dressing, diaper changes, and personal care.
• Provide supervision and ensure the children's safety at all times.
• Engage with the children using appropriate, child-centered communication strategies (including non-verbal cues).
• Help with mobility assistance, including transferring the non-mobile child.
• Perform light housekeeping related to the children's care (e.g., tidying up their areas, preparing meals).
• Monitor behavior and provide emotional support as needed.

Requirements

• Experience working with children with special needs, particularly those with autism.
• Experience with non-verbal children and those requiring physical assistance or willingness to learn.
• Ability to handle physically demanding tasks (e.g., lifting and transferring children).
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
• BCBA, RBT, CNA encouraged to apply.
