About the position
The Special Needs Paraprofessional at Mount Horeb Christian School is a part-time role focused on supporting students with special needs in a Christ-centered educational environment. The position involves working closely with the student services team and teachers to help students develop skills and attitudes that contribute to their growth as responsible Christians. The role requires a commitment to the school's mission and values, including spiritual expectations and the completion of required training.
Responsibilities
- Support assigned students by addressing their educational, physical, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Provide small group and tutorial instruction as needed.
- Coordinate closely with teachers and the student services team to support students' needs.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and behavior modifications as needed.
- Assist in planning and implementing classroom curriculum to meet students' diverse needs.
- Help manage and discipline students respectfully.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with students, preferably with special needs.
- Willingness to complete required training and coursework provided by MHCS.
- Evidence of Christian maturity and alignment with the school's Christian philosophy.
Nice-to-haves
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (training provided).
