Special Police Officer (DC ARMED & UNARMED SPO / DC SO)

About the position

The Special Police Officer (SPO) position involves providing security services in Washington, DC, for both armed and unarmed roles. The role requires maintaining a visible security presence, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with laws and company policies. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all post general orders, post orders, and special orders.
• Maintain security presence at all times by being visible.
• Report all incidents, accidents, and emergencies to law enforcement, clients, and management.
• Sign in all guests where 100% ID checks are required.
• Issue visitors/parking passes to guests/visitors and ensure that only authorized persons enter the premises.
• Maintain constant and hourly foot patrol/vehicle patrol.
• Inspect parking lots, ticket, and tow all vehicles in violation.
• Prepare daily and hourly activity reports.
• Deter possible crimes and adhere strictly to company policies, client rules, and state laws.
• Direct traffic when necessary.
• Issue tenant infractions/barring notices.
• Effect an arrest when necessary.
• Check for all deficiencies and prepare maintenance reports.
• Attend and document all court proceedings as scheduled by the District Attorney.
• Respond to all calls from the client, resident, and site supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and write.
• Must be able to pass a drug screening test.
• Clean driving and criminal record required.
• Current Armed and Unarmed SPO License required.
• Proof of training/certifications required.
• Current range qualifications and proof of MEB/First Aid/CPR cards.

Nice-to-haves

• Military/security/corrections/police officer experience preferred.
• 1 year of security experience preferred.
