About the position

As a Special Process Engineer specializing in Paint, Seal, and Adhesive technologies at StandardAero, you will play a crucial role in enhancing aircraft performance, safety, and reliability. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, testing, and implementing advanced technologies that address complex aviation challenges. You will work closely with various departments to ensure that our products and services adhere to the highest industry standards, thereby contributing to the overall success of our aviation solutions. In this position, you will be accountable for the team's response to flight and product safety critical parts and processes. You will serve as a liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites to oversee component repairs, inspections, and compliance. Your role will also involve driving best practices and identifying business improvement opportunities through collaboration with an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals. You will be the focal point for multi-discipline OEM technical reviews and will lead Repair Development project executions, as well as support Process Engineering Enterprise project compliance audits. Additionally, you will be involved in special projects that may require travel. Your responsibilities will extend to process control and improvement, where you will analyze, develop, and recommend methods to meet production requirements while improving quality and reducing turnaround times. You will establish performance measures related to processes and investigate issues to initiate corrective actions that enhance reliability. Coordination with external resources, including contractors and equipment vendors, will be essential for process support and improvement. You will also be responsible for adhering to safety requirements and reporting any unsafe practices or conditions immediately. This role requires a university degree in Chemistry, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field, along with a strong background in aerospace materials and processes. You will be expected to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and processes, ensuring that your contributions align with the company's commitment to excellence in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for team response on flight/product safety critical parts and processes
  • Liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites regarding component repairs, inspection and compliance
  • Drive best practice and business improvement opportunities through an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals
  • Focal for multi-discipline OEM technical reviews, CAR actions
  • Focal for Repair Development project executions
  • Focal for Process Engineering Enterprise project support / compliance audits
  • Support special projects which may involve travel
  • Analyzes, develops and recommends methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turn-around-times for products and/or processes with supporting cost analysis
  • Establishes, analyzes, and acts upon measures of performance related to processes
  • Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies relating to equipment and processes to reduce variation and improve reliability
  • Coordinates and interacts with the outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for process support, improvement, or repair development
  • Remains current with state-of the-art technologies and processes
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions
  • Carries out special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • University degree in Chemistry, mechanical or chemical engineering; or equivalent
  • Degree in Materials Engineering
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR 21, 43, 45, 121, 145 and Industry standards (AC7108, AC7109, AC7200, etc) for Chemical Process - Stripping, Cleaning, Plating, Painting and Sealants
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of company process, company instruction and rework process instruction manuals
  • Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing process engineering environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to develop a business case proposal for new productivity improvement technologies working with Operations and contractors for justifications, budget & timeline
  • Ability to prepare a Technical Specification and Cost Benefit Analysis for procurement of capital equipment
  • Ability to define a plan for local Engineering to approve MRO repairs and equipment to Airworthiness Requirements
  • Experience in a leadership position
  • Experience developing repairs with Aerospace OEM
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
