About the position

As a Special Process Engineer in Paint Seal and Adhesive at StandardAero, you will play a crucial role in designing, testing, and implementing advanced technologies aimed at enhancing aircraft performance, safety, and reliability. In this role, you will be accountable for the team's response to flight and product safety critical parts and processes. You will serve as a liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites regarding component repairs, inspections, and compliance. Your responsibilities will include driving best practices and business improvement opportunities through an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals. You will also be the focal point for multi-discipline OEM technical reviews and CAR actions, as well as for Repair Development project executions and Process Engineering Enterprise project support/compliance audits. Your work will involve process control and improvement, where you will analyze, develop, and recommend methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turnaround times for products and processes. You will establish and act upon performance measures related to processes, investigate problems, and initiate corrective actions to enhance reliability. Additionally, you will coordinate with outside resources, including contractors and equipment vendors, for process support and improvement. Staying current with state-of-the-art technologies and processes is essential, as is observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting any unsafe practices or conditions immediately. You will also carry out special projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for team response on flight/product safety critical parts and processes
  • Liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites regarding component repairs, inspection and compliance
  • Drive best practice and business improvement opportunities through an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals
  • Focal for multi-discipline OEM technical reviews and CAR actions

  • Support special projects which may involve travel
  • Analyze, develop and recommend methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turn-around-times for products and/or processes with supporting cost analysis
  • Establish, analyze, and act upon measures of performance related to processes
  • Investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies relating to equipment and processes to reduce variation and improve reliability
  • Coordinate and interact with outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for process support, improvement, or repair development
  • Remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and processes
  • Observe all applicable safety requirements and report immediately any unsafe practices/conditions
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • University degree in Chemistry, mechanical or chemical engineering; or equivalent
  • Degree in Materials Engineering
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR 21, 43, 45, 121, 145 and Industry standards (AC7108, AC7109, AC7200, etc) for Chemical Process - Stripping, Cleaning, Plating, Painting and Sealants
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of company process, company instruction and rework process instruction manuals
  • Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing process engineering environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to develop a business case proposal for new productivity improvement technologies working with Operations and contractors for justifications, budget & timeline
  • Ability to prepare a Technical Specification and Cost Benefit Analysis for procurement of capital equipment
  • Liaises with management in the procurement process
  • Ability to define a plan for local Engineering to approve MRO repairs and equipment to Airworthiness Requirements
  • Experience in a leadership position
  • Experience developing repairs with Aerospace OEM
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effectively communicate in a professional manner
  • Effective at planning, team building, performing analytical evaluations, & decision making
