About the position

The Special Project Manager - Executive Communications is responsible for developing, executing, and measuring communication strategies for the Chancellor and Executive Leadership Team at Pima Community College. This role aims to enhance the College's internal and external reputation, promote executive visibility, and ensure alignment with the College's brand identity and foundational goals. The position involves crafting communication plans, advising on sensitive messages, and managing content for the Chancellor's speaking engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as communications advisor to the Chancellor, overseeing the preparation and development of speeches, presentations, and videos.
  • Promote and champion College initiatives, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Document decision-making processes to ensure consistency with the College's strategy.
  • Craft and implement communication plans that articulate objectives, strategies, and tactics.
  • Work closely with the Chancellor on strategic messaging for internal meetings and external engagements.
  • Improve employee and executive communications efficiencies through various processes and tools.
  • Establish and maintain a network of subject matter experts for effective problem-solving.
  • Perform research on sensitive messages to test clarity and effectiveness.
  • Exert version control and manage input from multiple sources under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in challenging projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (English or journalism preferred but not required).
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years in a senior communications role or equivalent combination of certification, education, and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Eight years plus (8+) of experience in employee/executive communications and/or related disciplines.
  • Experience in speechwriting and media relations.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $26.00-$50.00 depending on experience.
