About the position

The Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for performing independent managerial and administrative duties associated with coordinating special projects. This role involves supporting small business initiatives through effective contract management, software administration, and fostering collaborative partnerships with business organizations. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing software systems for tracking program data, generating reports, and enhancing program impact on the small business community.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and directing overall project activities and communicates issues to upper management.
  • Receives, studies, formulates, executes, and expedites special projects and assignments.
  • Participates in, reports on, and recommends action on special assignments involving meetings with other governmental agencies and public organizations.
  • Reviews existing procedures for compliance and formulates new procedures if required.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and resolves problems related to activities assigned.
  • May assume the authority of, and act on behalf of a more senior official when designated.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year degree granting college or university.
  • Three years of experience coordinating projects, programs, or activities.
  • Knowledge of the functions, activities, requirements, and objectives of the specific program/functional area to which assigned.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of management.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement complex projects, programs, or activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others within and outside own organization.
  • Ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in generating, maintaining, and interpretative analysis of program data.
  • Understanding and applying financial analysis and auditing practices needed for policy and program development.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
