About the position
The Special Services Attendant at Brookhaven National Laboratory plays a crucial role in supporting conferences, meetings, and special events by performing various service duties. This position is integral to the Guest Services Division, which assists in facilitating world-class scientific research. The attendant will also take on custodial responsibilities when not engaged in special service assignments, ensuring a clean and organized environment for all events.
Responsibilities
- Performs various service duties in connection with conferences, meetings, and special events in a timely manner.
- Moves furnishings as required for events.
- Drives Lab vehicles for deliveries and other tasks.
- Cleans Conference Service facilities including Berkner Hall, Center Club, Gymnasium, locker rooms, pool area, Recreation Hall, and SUSC conference center.
- Follows planned cleaning schedules to ensure all areas of need are addressed.
- Prepares room setups and breakdowns for events.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or higher is required.
- Valid NYS driver's license is necessary.
- Experience in stripping, waxing, and buffing of floors is required.
- Polished interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and fellow workers are essential.
- Written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
