About the position

As a Specialist in Aircraft Records within the Operations team at American Airlines, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of maintenance transactions and documentation for active aircraft. This position is part of the Aircraft Configuration Management Team within the Integrated Operations Division, where you will be responsible for managing the configuration and maintenance status of aircraft, engines, APUs, landing gear, and components. Your work will be vital in adhering to company policies and departmental procedures, ensuring compliance with FAA and OEM requirements for airworthiness. In this role, you will process and review maintenance transactions in Tech Ops maintenance systems, including SCEPTRE and AirVault, to ensure that all records are accurate and up-to-date. You will manage the part and task-related configuration of active aircraft, generating internal instructions for ongoing maintenance items and implementing controls and procedures as requested by various departments. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining daily tracking of major aircraft assemblies, verifying the accuracy of information completed by Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, and correcting any discrepancies to reflect the actual configuration and maintenance status of the aircraft. Additionally, you will collaborate with various Tech Ops partner departments on projects and initiatives, engage with suppliers and vendors regarding maintenance discrepancies, and be available for on-call duties as needed. This position may require weekend or night shift coverage, depending on operational needs. Your ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain precision under deadlines will be essential for success in this fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review maintenance transactions and documentation for accuracy in Tech Ops maintenance systems.
  • Manage part and task related configuration of active aircraft and generate internal instructions for ongoing maintenance items.
  • Implement SCEPTRE controls and procedures on active aircraft as requested by Engineering and Maintenance departments.
  • Maintain daily tracking of major aircraft assemblies for maintenance tasks and part changes.
  • Verify accuracy of key information completed by Aircraft Maintenance Technicians in Tech Ops maintenance systems.
  • Correct discrepancies to ensure maintenance systems reflect actual configuration and status of active aircraft.
  • Manage replacement of FAA Airworthiness Certificates and Aircraft registrations on active aircraft.
  • Maintain Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) registrations on NOAA for active aircraft.
  • Collaborate with Tech Ops partner departments on projects and initiatives.
  • Engage suppliers and vendors for part maintenance discrepancies and documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in aircraft maintenance or related field.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or higher in a technical or aviation-related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience with airlines in lieu of an associate's degree.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance systems such as SAP, MXI, or Maintenix.
  • Lean Office or Lean Manufacturing training.
  • Six Sigma certification or training.
