About the position

As a Specialist in Aircraft Records at American Airlines, you will be an integral member of the Aircraft Acquisitions and Returns team within the Technical Operations Division. This team is responsible for collaborating with aircraft manufacturers and lessors to acquire new aircraft and return them in accordance with contractual obligations. Your role will involve ensuring that all newly acquired aircraft are properly set up in the American Airlines inventory and that all necessary documentation is prepared for lease returns or sales. This includes providing a comprehensive history of maintenance and airworthiness for the aircraft, engines, and components, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations. In this position, you will be responsible for receiving aircraft component delivery records and inputting this information into the American Airlines electronic maintenance document application during the delivery process. You will assist in compiling return document packages for the sale or transfer of aircraft or engines, and help with aircraft configuration setups as needed. Your duties will also include inputting component information into computer systems to maintain accurate records of the airworthiness of the aircraft and its components. You will interface with various computer programs to manage daily tasks and ensure compliance with company policies regarding document distribution and retention. Additionally, you will address and resolve issues related to “pseudo serial numbers” for components and inspections, research the traceability of aircraft component records, and work closely with the Aircraft Acquisitions and Returns Team as well as other internal and external groups to gather necessary records for lease returns, sales, or new aircraft processes. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive aircraft component delivery records and input the information into the AA electronic maintenance document application during the delivery process.
  • Assist with the compilation of return document packages for the sale or transfer of aircraft or engines.
  • Assist with aircraft configuration setups as needed.
  • Input component information in computer systems to permanently record the data to manage the airworthiness of the airplane/engine/component.
  • Interface with multiple computer programs or software to manage daily work and task execution.
  • Distribute and retain documents as required by company policy to ensure FAA compliance.
  • Address/resolve 'pseudo serial numbers' for both component and inspection tasks in SCEPTRE.
  • Research 'back to birth' traceability of aircraft component records.
  • Work to resolve component data concerns on acquired aircraft.
  • Collaborate with the Aircraft Acquisitions and Returns Team and other internal/external groups when records are needed for the lease return, sold, or new aircraft process.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience/training.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be organized with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to research and audit using multiple computer systems sources.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivated with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties/priorities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to function effectively under deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or higher education in a technical or related field or equivalent experience/education.
  • Aviation maintenance experience/knowledge, especially in aircraft records/component documentation.
  • Experience in lease return records research and back to birth traceability records assembly.
  • System proficiency in AA SCEPTRE.
